Abbott Diabetes Care has long been at the forefront of diabetes management, particularly in monitoring Type-1 diabetes with the trusted FreeStyle continuous glucose monitors (CGM) for over a decade. Yet, addressing the needs of those with Type-2 diabetes posed a fresh and unique challenge. Unlike Type-1, Type-2 diabetes doesn't come with sudden symptoms or immediate consequences. Instead, managing Type-2 heavily relies on lifestyle choices.
Research showed that over 61% of individuals struggle with maintaining a healthy diet, while 58% found it challenging to stick to an exercise routine—both crucial for improved glucose management.
In response, I was tasked with identifying market potential, understanding the unique needs of this demographic, and leading the development of personalized, actionable lifestyle guidance. By leveraging Abbott's expertise and technology, I aimed to empower people living with Type-2 diabetes to make informed choices and achieve better health outcomes.
